Diversity, Equity, & Inclusivity Featured Keynotes

 

Dr. Howard-Bostic was selected by NAACP Jefferson County, WV as the 2022 keynote speaker for the Freedom Fund Dinner. She warned the audience about IQ, emotional intelligence and Cultural Intelligence.

Interpersonal Violence Featured Keynotes

On June 10, 2017 in Toronto, Canada, Howard-Bostic also presented the keynote address at the Fourth International Conference on Advances in Women’s Studies. She delivered an address about empowering academia and the community using bystander intervention. Howard-Bostic has partnered with an academic team in Brazil to publish a book chapter about violence against women on college campuses. 

 

Social Justice Featured Keynotes


In September of 2016, Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic presented the keynote address, “Education Across Generations,” at the Advena World International Conference on Leadership, Ethics, and Urban Issues in Washington, D.C. She introduced a transformational leadership strategy to address disenfranchised generational socialization processes. In June 12, 2016, sociologist and community mentor, Howard-Bostic was the featured speaker at the Buffalo Branch NAACP 50th Annual Medgar Evers Award Dinner at the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center. 

  • WHAT ARE "RED FLAG STATEMENTS"?"
    READ a list of statements written on red flags.
  • HOW WERE THE RED FLAGS DISPLAYED ON CAMPUS?
    The 4 day Flag display took place on West Campus Drive on the Shaw Hall lawn of Shepherd University. The 800+ decorated Red Flags showcased Shepherd campus action regarding sexual violence prevention. Several local newspapers featured stories about the event and explained how the symbolic statement was powerful for the campus and the community.
  • WHAT MAIN THEMES WERE DISCUSSED DURING THE KICKOFF LECTURE?
    The kickoff lecture, “The Red Flag as the Voice of the Shepherd Family” was presented by Dr. Chiquita Howard-Bostic at the Robert C. Byrd Center for Congressional History and Education auditorium.DOWNLOAD the PowerPoint presentation.
  • WHAT IS A "HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS INSTAGRAM CAMPAIGN"?"
    The Healthy Relationships Instagram campaign was launched for 3 days using Instagram @Shepherdu. Students and community members posted images and videos about their experiences and participation in the Red Flag Campaign.

Multicultural education is the process by which the structure of educational institutions is adjusted to provide equitable accommodations. Similar initiatives include a wide variety of programs and practices related to educational equity, women, ethnic groups, language minorities, low-income groups, and people with disabilities. These ideas implanted at the college level lead to transformation and societal changes that embrace diversity. Communication is essential. Human potential is articulated through a thriving diversity of cultures.
